Cowrie shells, 50 pieces, small size, these shells are sliced in half for making jewelry, gluing onto frames and crafts. They are an off white / cream color and vary in size from 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch long. This is a small size cowrie shell we also have medium and large sizes available in our bead section.

Cowrie shells come from the ocean and do vary in size, shape and color - nature does not make them all the same. Cowrie shells are sliced in half by a machine, so we cannot add holes or make the slits larger or smaller - we really can't!
In order to offer the shells at the lowest price possible, we are unable to pick or sort through them for you. If you require all your shells to be the same size, we advise purchasing a kilo bag and sorting through to find the sizes you need.
Shells are pre-washed clean - in 20 years of using them for jewelry making we have never found any unclean ones.

It is possible that you may come across the odd shell that is unusable or misshapen, but to compensate we always add a few extra to orders, so please carefully count the number of shells you received before contacting us.
Cowrie shells vary between batches, but that is just the way nature does it. The shells you receive may not look exactly like the photo, but any variation in size and color will be slight.
